For the past many years we have been witnessing a good increase of women in various poker events. They keep coming. Ask Barbara Enright, 14 years back she became the first woman to get inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame & Senior’s Poker Hall of Fame. She is the only woman who could ever make it to the final table at World Series of Poker. She made her way through the male dominated series to finish 5th in the event of 1995.She has many more recognitions and awards and prizes in her kitty.

Today in 2009 we have professional players Jennifer Harman, Vanessa Rousso, Annie Duke, Kathy Liebert, Cyndy Voilette and so on. What makes them experts at the game and even dominate over the men sometimes? There is not any real mental advantage. But usually women tend to be more patient and are good at reading opponents. They tend to drink less and thus make fewer bad calls. But on a downside women are more emotional. The male counterparts regard females as the weakest player at the table who is always timid and rarely bluffs. This stereotype is the perfect weapon in the hand of female poker players. By the time they are done they could leave the men empty handed and not knowing what hit them.

Even more — quite a few female internet poker geeks are doing great in online poker. They’re usually unknown, and people assume they’re men. They don’t care – they’ve got the poker money!
